Jeri and I were good friend friends, especially when we were at McKinley Junior High together. I was hopeless at all things athletic and she was brilliant. One year she stayed after school, day after day, for weeks, teaching me to serve a volleyball. Later, at Park, she taught me how to jump the horse. Without Jerry, a clean ironed gym suit and perfect scores on written gym tests, I would never have had a passing grade in gym.
